Reverse Engraving and Printing

Reverse engraving or printing involves engraving the back of a transparent materials, most often being acrylic or glass. This technique protects the engraving from physical contact and environmental factors, extending the lifespan of the product while maintaining a sleek, high-end appearance.

This process is particularly effective for creating signs, control panels, and labels that are constantly being touched, yet need to remain easily visible. This keeps the contactable part of the project smooth, whilst having a 3D effect that shows through from the underside.

A contrasting colour can be filled into the engraved area from behind to make the design more visible. This method is great for logos, where multiple colours and complex designs may be requested.

Reverse engraved products are ideal for a variety of applications. They are commonly used in high-wear areas such as industrial control panels, where traditional labels might wear away quickly. Because the engraving is on the reverse side, the front remains smooth and undisturbed, making it easier to clean and resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and the elements. This makes it an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor applications, ensuring that the information remains legible and intact over time. And you don’t have to keep cleaning dust out of the engraved design or wording.

Reverse engraving or printing can be adapted for a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, and more.

It can also be used to make the wording or image stand out in relief from the rest of the plaque or sign in an interesting 3D effect. For instance, we can create a sign or plaque where we engrave the space around the text or image or logo, leaving it to stand out against the lower part we had removed with our incredible lasers.
